NFL implied team totals and the Week 1 heat index

All 32 teams · 16 games ranked by scoring environment · rebuilt with the lines every morning

Every implied team total on the slate, and — the part the other tables leave out — whether the game actually has fantasy players in it. A 49-point game between two teams you don't roster is not a fantasy spot. Heat blends the total, how close the spread is, neutral-situation pace, and how many top-60 fantasy players are on the field.

How heat is calculated

Total (40%) — the posted game total. More points on the board is the base rate for everything else.

Spread closeness (20%) — a blowout kills the losing side's passing game and the winner's fourth quarter. Games inside a field goal keep both offences honest.

Pace (20%) — neutral-situation seconds per play, which is pace with game script stripped out. A team that trails all season looks fast on raw pace and isn't.

Fantasy talent (20%) — how many top-60 players from our season-long board are on the field. This is the ingredient the other implied-totals tables don't have, and it's the difference between a betting number and a fantasy tool.

Each part is scaled against the rest of this week's slate, because the only comparison a reader is making is between the games actually on the card.
